Okay, so there are some saying that since the public option is going to be taken off the table, the dreaded Obamacare is going to fall away. In my opinion, when the Democrats take something off the table to appease the masses, they are planning to put it back in later on down the road. Whether under a different name, or sneaking it in some other bill…that is their usual M.O. Call me paranoid, but in my opinion, the track record for the Democrats speaks for itself.
Then, the entire issue language has changed! It went from Obama..er…Health Care Reform, to Health Insurance Reform. Now make no mistake…Health Insurance reform is needed, but Health Care Reform is what the Democrats want. They want government control over health care. This allows them to steal more of our money, and control all of our medical needs. This is not what the government is for! This is not what the founding fathers envisioned! This is not the American way of life!
TORT reform! This is an important first step!
Find and eliminate all the fraud, waste and abuse within the system!
Deny illegal aliens free treatement! Of course if there is a catastrophic issue, we would help, but I wouldn’t go much farther than that.
Put more strict regulation on insurance companies that ensure the health and safety of the patient and the doctors.
And of course…LOWER THE FREAKING TAXES!!!!
All the above can improve the cost of health services and increase the quality of care that is given, without having our government run the system.
*sigh*
But I digress…
The removal of the public option does not mean that we can let down our guard and stop out tea parties and attendances at town hall meetings. We need to continue to let out congressmen know that government run health care under any name is bad for Americans and the Country as a whole.
Keep up the good fight! And remember…..”Courage”

And for the opposing view

Well, the problem with the statements in that blog is that the numbers quoted are not backed up by any hard facts. Also, the writer neglects to say that Medicare & Medicaid are insolvent financially, and will always be. It is an ever widening hole that has no means to close. Thats because when the Government runs things, it actually takes money designated for certain services and uses it elsewhere (read pet projects). This is evidenced by the current state of Medicare & Medicaid & Social Security & the VA hospitals.
Of the Estimated 45-50 million people without health care (CBO numbers, not mine), 12 million are illegal immigrants that we pay for. 8-10 million are people that make enough money to buy insurance but chose not to. Another 8 million are children, and the kids were supposed to be taken care of by the SCHIP program…that was recently voted to be expanded to allow even adults…that can pay for health care on their own. So now we’re looking only 15-20 million that do not have health care, which is only 6.6% of the entire American public. Tragic…sure. But not by any stretch, a national crisis.
Also, business are not required to provide health insurance. And it wasn’t that long ago that they didn’t. Business started providing health insurance to lure in better qualified employees. It’s a perk! And if they have to try and compete against nationalized health care, they are going to drop it completely. Now you have no options unless you’re financially capable of purchasing your own health care.
Furthermore, there is no constitutional requirement outlined anywhere in the constitution (and yes, I have a copy of it on my dresser) that states that the the government must provide health care to the people. Not anywhere. Thus…it is not their job to do so.
However, the writer of the blog that you supplied did have valid points about insurance companies. And that is where the focus should be. We need to regulate the insurance companies. We can’t take away their right to profitability…at least we shouldn’t. But we can regulate how much they can charge. And that is really where the real health care reform needs to be focused.
Facts are facts. We have the best health care in the world. It’s why people come from Canada, England, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, China, Spain, Mexico, and on and on…to be treated.
There was an article I read today ( http://bit.ly/vKkHk )that stated Canada is going to move to a more privatized system because it’s citizens are not getting the proper care (Wait times; rationing; etc.).
Daniel Hannan of British Parliament is warning us not to go down this track because of what it did to England.
Look, I understand your concerns, but Government run health care/health insurance, is not the way to go. It’s been tried everywhere else, and is far inferior to what we have now, and government has proven the only thing that it can run with any degree of success is the military.
I love your passion, and the writers passion for the issue. I commend it! It’s just focused in the wrong direction without any real facts to back up that side of the debate.
I don’t think the current package is without flaw and I DO like the co-op aspect (we do it successfully with local farming, power and education as a country)
But frankly, unless anyone with a grip has a better idea, I think they need to close the mouth and power up the brain-I’d welcome some innovations
Republicans have offered up alternatives, but the Democrats won’t allow them up for debate. It’s the same thing that happened with the Stimulus Bill; Omnibus Bill and now the Health Care plan. Palosi and Reid said that the Republicans had nothing, when the truth was…they didn’t let them bring the ideas to the table, AND they didn’t let them propose amendments for the bills.
The innovations that you’d welcome…well…there needs to be everyone at the table for that to happen. Not just one side. And as long as there is anything resembling a government run option, there is going to be the major dissent that you see across the nation now. I, for one, welcome the dissent! Mainly because it prevents the government from passing more BS to gain control over our lives and our liberties.
